Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Tanzania
The Highlands redefines the traditional Ngorongoro experience. Set high on the slopes of the Olmoti volcano and far from any other camp, The Highlands offers views all the way to the Serengeti and easy access to the famous Ngorongoro Crater. This warm and stylish high-altitude camp, deliberately positioned deep in the highland wilderness for maximum privacy, offers a richness of adventure and range of activities not possible elsewhere in Ngorongoro.
The eight tents are canvas and perspex domes – a design inspired by traditional Maasai bomas. At the heart of the camp is our library with its indoor fireplace that replaces the typical safari campfire. Guests gather here each evening to share stories of the day’s wildlife experiences over pre-dinner drinks.
The camp feels remote, but is within easy reach of Ngorongoro, where guests can go on day-long game drives to spot lions, elephants and giraffes, with a midday picnic break under a shady tree. From camp, hike up to the top of Olmoti for staggering views, or take a half-day trip to the soda lake in Empakaai Crater, where thousands of pink flamingos congregate. Guests can also interact with the local community, learning about Masasai culture and walk the cattle back to the boma at the end of the day.

Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Tanzania
The Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA) extends from the crater highlands all the way past Olduvai Gorge and onto the short grasslands of the southern Serengeti and Lake Ndutu. But the wildlife does not adhere to these boundaries and there is very good wildlife viewing, especially during peak calving season when the NCA plains play host to the Great Wildebeest Migration and the birth of hundreds of thousands of wildebeest in a short span of time. This brings predator action, especially with large hyena clans, cheetah, and the return of African hunting dogs.
The NCA is a protected area and a World Heritage Site located 180 km (111 miles) west of Arusha. The area is named after the Ngorongoro Crater, a large volcanic caldera whose name derives from the sound made by the cattle bells of the local Maasai pastoralists.

Eastern Serengeti, Tanzania
Namiri Plains is one of Africa’s best locations for observing big cats. Located in the vast and remote grasslands of the eastern Serengeti, Namiri Plains provides a tranquil and secluded retreat within a wildlife-rich environment. After returning from a game drive or walking safari, guests can cool off in the refreshing swimming pool or treat your muscles to a relaxing massage in the Asilia spa.
Namiri Plains offers twice-daily game drives led by knowledgeable guides, with open-sided safari vehicles equipped with power points for charging devices and fridges for keeping drinks chilled. Walking safaris provide a more intimate way to experience the bush, allowing guests to explore at a comfortable pace while becoming more aware of the surrounding sights, sounds, and scents. Walking safaris must be booked in advance. Guests can also join the local cheetah research team to search for cheetahs across the open plains of the Serengeti and learn more about these endangered big cats from the researchers. This experience must be booked in advance and is available at an additional cost.

Serengeti National Park, Tanzania
The Serengeti is perhaps the most famous African wilderness area, its name synonymous with the notion of safari for nearly a hundred years. This UNESCO World Heritage site covers 14,750 km2 (5,700 mi2) of premiere game viewing in Acacia woodlands, open grasslands, and undulating savannahs interspersed with seasonal rivers. The park on the northern side borders the Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya and, together with several other smaller reserves and conservation areas, forms the larger Mara-Serengeti ecosystem.
Stretching all the way to Lake Victoria, the Western Corridor is characterized by the quintessential safari landscape — open plains dotted with the occasional tree, although there are also beautiful riverine woodlands and some thicker bush areas. There is a good population of cats and general game all year round.
In May and June this area hosts the Great Wildebeest Migration in their never ending search for water and nutrient dense grasses. If you are lucky you may witness a river crossing, when masses of wildebeest and zebra cross the nearby Grumeti River which, whilst not as large as the Mara River, plays host to the dramatic spectacle of wildebeest trying to cross the crocodile infested waters. The other predators are all present as well, and days here can be very action packed.
Note: The Great Wildebeest Migration and other wildlife phenomena and sightings are natural events and therefore can never be guaranteed.

Zanzibar, Tanzania
Just a short flight from the Tanzania mainland lies the idyllic Indian Ocean archipelago of Zanzibar. Famous for intoxicating aromas of spices, beautiful white sand beaches, and warm turquoise waters, the heart of the island is undoubtedly Stone Town, a fascinating step back in time with narrow winding streets, Swahili traders and local fisherman, and the daily call to prayer in this predominantly muslim town.
In addition to its fascinating Swahili and Arab history, Zanzibar offers world class scuba diving, snorkeling, fishing and, at certain times of year, kitesurfing. There is also endemic wildlife in the Johazi Forest.
Nicknamed “Spice Island,” Zanzibar was an important part of the slave and ivory trade as a connecting point between the mainland interior and the Middle East. This made the likes of some slave traders, like Tippu Tip, very rich men. A walk around the Sultan's Palace is reminiscent of this dark past. More recent pop culture will undoubtedly lead to the doorway of Zanzibar's most famous son, Queen's iconic frontman, Freddie Mercury.

A UNESCO World Heritage site and unique blend of African, Middle Eastern and Indian cultures, Stone Town is full of history and fascinating legends. A tour will take you through the history and sights of the Cathedral, Slave Markets, the Sultans Palace, Tippu Tip’s House, the Old Arabic Fort, the fruit and vegetable market, Forodhani Park, and the famous Zanzibar Doors in the petite streets.
